A Grey Haven House Concert dream has come true. When we started Grey Haven House Concerts in 2005, there were a few performers on our short list: Jake Armerding, Chuck Pyle, Buddy Mondlock and Tom Kimmel. We have been fortunate enough to have Jake once, and Chuck and Buddy twice. Finally, after 4 years of wishing, we are pleased to announce that Tom will join us on Wednesday August 19, 2009.

Tom Kimmel is one of those unique singer-songwriters whose heartfelt artistry with words and music is both genre-crossing and timeless. Since 1980, when his songs were recorded by Roger McGuinn & Chris Hillman (of Byrds fame) and Levon Helm (of The Band), dozens of his compositions have been covered by a host of major artists including Linda Ronstadt, Johnny Cash, Joe Cocker, Shawn Colvin, Waylon Jennings, the Stray Cats, Randy Travis and the Spinners. Tom’s unique ability to write songs that connect stems from his lifelong career as a touring performer.

Featured in motion pictures such as Runaway Bride, Serendipity, and Twins, and in television shows as varied as Captain Kangaroo, Miami Vice and Touched By An Angel, recordings of Tom’s compositions have sold millions of copies around the world, achieving gold and platinum sales in many countries.

Here are some of Tom's songs you may know:
"Poetic Justice" (co-written with Grey Haven star Buddy Mondlock)
"Never Saw Blue Like That" (recorded by Shawn Colvin, featured in "Runaway Bride")
"That's What I Love About the Rain"

Grey Haven is an intimate concert setting in beautiful Big Cottonwood Canyon near Salt Lake City, UT. Come join us for an evening with Tom Kimmel, Wednesday August 19, 2009. $15, all proceeds go to the artist.

Directions to Grey Haven:
Grey Haven is located in Big Cottonwood Canyon just 30 minutes from Salt Lake. Drive up the canyon 11 miles (towards Brighton and Solitude ski resorts), then turn left onto the side access road. (There is a bank of mailboxes on the right. If you reach the Silver Fork Lodge you've gone to far, but only a little.) Follow the access road as it turns sharply right. Go past the three garages on the left. (Mind the "Don't Even THINK About Parking Here" signs--the neighbor really means it.) Grey Haven is the gray A-frame on the left. Parking is limited at the cabin. If needed, you can park on the main canyon road and walk up the access road--it's not too far.
